How basic? I know some code. I did ASP development for about a year. I'm no coder. I know tech but I don't know how to DO tech. I'm going to change all that and have some fun doing it and hope some people may follow along. Some may learn from my mistakes, teach me a few things (I really hope), and may even influence my direction.
What I have chosen is C# for a development language. Why? I did take a stab at learning Java briefly before giving it up for work pressures. And there is that ASP development I did for a while which, for better or worse, endured me to MS Visual Studio. Also, there's a depth of developers to turn to that are willing to help and it's awesome. I feel like I'm in some great company. I can target Windows Phone with C#/XAML. I could do Android with Mono for Android. I could do Windows 8. I feel at the starting line of a marathon.
Where am I starting? I have copy of Head Start C#. Beyond that I know nothing. I need to feel out frameworks, models, UIs, and quite a few other things that I don't even know that I don't know.
This should have been my first post, rather then the other complaining about HS C#. It would have laid a foundation of why I was using it in the first place. Really, it's just mark of my noob-ishness.
So what goals are there? To develop an app, and to document it. The guys over at Metro App Diary are doing a great job at doing this, but they're developers and have something to start from. I have to lay a foundation. So follow along if you like.
